First Blog in Class

Hi my name is James and recently I been reading a book called " The Climate Casino".  In the beginning of the book their was two sentences that easily stood out to me for some reason.  "Global Warming is one of the defining issues of our time.  It ranks along with violent conflicts and economic depressions as a force that will shape the human and natural landscapes for the indefinite future." I thought it was interesting because its true when you sit down and think about it.  With all the chemical waste and pollution society is creating we are destroying the earth.  Studies show if we continue at this rate the earth won't last long .  The gases cause by the the people pollution is heating up the earth which in result is melting.  With the ice melting our water levels are rising.  Soon major cities like NewYork will be flooded out.  I strongly agree with these two sentences because our last few storms was out of the norm.

Hello my name is James Hull and I just read an article called "NewYork is Lagging as Seas and Risks Rise, Critics Warn"; I will analyze the opinions of the public based off the article while adding my own perspective.  This article is about NewYork City and its preparations for flooding and other climate changes.  As a fellow New Yorker, based on my past personal experience with a storm, I feel the city is not ready for flooding.  The need to improve their public transportation system as well as the structure of their buildings is a must.  We can't get prepared that easily like the other cities because it would cost too much to fix everything we needed.
DOB from the NewYork Times article told his story about how he was trying to travel on the Path train when the flooding in 2007 happened. He explained how they had to change the train's course due to the high amount of flood waters. He wondered what would have happened  if he was traveling through the flood as it was happening and what the city would have done in that situation. It feel like the city should have been more prepared. Rama68 thinks just because we have expensive condos that NewYork can afford to fix the cars so they can float during floods. I notice Rama68 is from San Francisco and may not understand the process for that is not that easy and would probably cost more money than the condos he ranting about. His idea is a unrealistic concept. Mitch M ask where are the dramatic changes. For years we been warned about global warming changes but nothing is happening. I disagree with Mitch statement because climate changes may not be happening faster than expected but it is happening.
